Missing 'Header' option for Modularity Lite
-
Hello everyone,
I am using the theme Modularity Lite, and as far as I can remember, there was an option under ‘Appearance’ that allowed me to change my header. But now, wanting to add another picture, I find it missing. Any ideas as to what happened? I tried reactivating the theme, but no dice.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Modularity Lite does not have a “header” image. You need to read this post by Panos which covers the features of this theme.

Well that just sucks. Cause back then, the theme had the option to place a header. I still have my original header on at the moment.
So based on the article, I can no longer place the header like before, yet I can use the welcome message option to place the image, with the drawback being the ‘header image’ will be at the blog front only? Dang… Thanks though ‘path…

That post was done in June of 2010, so the theme has not had a normal “header” here since it was introduced. The theme description at theme.wordpress.com does mention a custom header, but I think that is just a bad description for the header informational area above the sldeshow. See http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/ and look at the informational text area above the slideshow.

Strange: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/new-theme-modularity-lite/
It says there in the picture ‘Theme Options’ welcome message, that you can Custom Headers.
Just to clarify: the Modularity Lite theme had the option to add a header via Appearance > Header. It even had the ability to create a pseudo-slideshow with grouped header pictures as you go from post to post or page to page. But now, going to the Appearance tab, the Header option is gone.
Did WP change this change this feature with the Welcome Message, or removed it entirely?

I’ve contacted staff and hopefully they will do a little editing to clarify things on the theme description page for Modularity shortly.

Just one last thing:http://eggyeggroll.wordpress.com/
Here’s my blog, and you will notice the image with the miniatures. That used to be my header when the theme had the custom header option. It’s still there after the custom header option was removed. When I activated the slideshow option, it appeared separately from the header. That’s the reason why I just wanted to know what happened to the custom header option.
All in all, thanks very much ‘path…
-
I’m confused now. Perhaps it was removed, or some change they made caused it to disappear.
I’ll tag this to have it moved to the themes forum so that hopefully one of the theme team will see it and let everyone know what is going on.

Ummm, this seems to be a conspiracy now that it is happening on two themes.
Here could be part of the answer. When wordpress 3.4 hits here, there will be a new custom header function taking over that will allow you to set the height of your header to something different from what the theme was designed for originally if you wish. It could be that in preparing all the themes here for that new functionality, that the standard custom header function needs to temporarily disappear.
I don’t know if this is the case, but it well might be. We’ll have to wait for the theme team to respond to find out for sure.
-
This could also mean that 3.4 is about ready to be pushed out here so we can all perform our lab rat duties and beta test it for them.
-
haha well then, that’s the only idea that made sense to me so far. Thanks ‘path! I guess I can consider it resolved.

thanks for the news… and do you know anything about the time it will come back? new or old?…. thanks for the help…
-
First we have to get staff to respond and explain what is going on. From all I can gather, Modularity Lite used to have a custom header option, and Adventure Journal did for sure.
