Missing information in Dashboard on Follow button
-
The support page on Reader settings claims that one can configure the Follower settings by checking or unchecking a box for anonymous followers. But that box does not appear in my dashboard. (Yes, I went to Settings –> Readers). My readers are complaining that WP is either asking them to pay something to follow the blog or to set up their own blog to follow it. Since I have a blog, I can’t tell what settings appear on my blog to readers who don’t have one.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Ellen,
In your blog’s Reading Settings, you have checked the option “Show follow button to logged out users.” That shows a button/tab at the bottom of the screen to users who don’t have WordPress.com accounts — they can use that to subscribe to your blog via email. Here’s what that looks like: https://cloudup.com/ce5uGoJv_q7
If someone clicks the Follow button in your blog’s sidebar, though, that will ask them to log in or create a new WordPress.com account. That’s because that button is specifically for WordPress.com users to follow your blog. If you’d like, you can also add the Follow Blog Widget so anyone can follow your blog. (If someone doesn’t have a WordPress.com account, that widget works the same way as the follow button in the bottom right.)
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
