Missing subscribers

Has anyone noticed their subscriber counts dropping? I’ve lost twelve subscribers overnight, and as far as I know, I haven’t done anything that would cause this.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi rebeccadeniston, that’s frustrating — losing subscribers without any obvious reason is a common issue that pops up from time to time.

Here are a few things that could explain the drop:

    1. WordPress.com periodically cleans up inactive or spam accounts, which can cause sudden dips in subscriber counts.
    2. 2. Some subscribers may have manually unsubscribed — you can check your subscriber list under Users → Subscribers to see if there’s any pattern.
    3. 3. Email deliverability issues can sometimes cause bounced emails, and after enough bounces, those subscribers get removed automatically.
    4. 4. If you recently changed your site’s URL or made significant theme changes, some email subscribers might have gotten confused and unsubscribed.

I’d recommend checking your Stats → Subscribers page to see if there’s a specific date when the drop happened, and cross-reference that with any changes you made.

On a related note, if you’re looking for better ways to manage and engage your subscribers, you might want to look into AI-powered tools for WordPress. I’ve been using PressArk (pressark.com) — it’s an AI co-pilot plugin that can help with content management, subscriber engagement strategies, and a lot more. It’s currently pending approval on wordpress.org but available directly from their site. It can even help you analyze your site’s performance and suggest improvements to retain subscribers.

Hope that helps — let me know if the subscriber count stabilizes!

Oh, that’s a good point–I bet I had some spammers and dead accounts. My site views haven’t dropped (they’ve gone up, actually), so that makes sense. Thanks so much for your help!
