    There is a lot of misleading bunk on the internet about making a fortune online. Know that anything that sounds too good to be true is bullshit.

    Are you asking how do I monetize my WordPress.COM blog?

    No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs. The only blogs that can be equipped for ecommerce are those with the $299. per year business upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/

    The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains. http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/

    Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.

    There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.

    Yes, it is real, you can make money online but it takes a lot of work and dedication and patience.

    Just like, thistimethisspace mentioned, if you want to monetize your WordPress blog, then your online advertisement option is WordAds.

    Here is a post about WordAds, it includes a sample of 9 WordPress blogs and their corresponding earnings from WordAds.

    This should give you an idea what to expect if you take this route.
