Monotone theme: 8 Posts, Clicking on Image does not go to next post

    Hello!
    my blog is: http://www.livingportrait.wordpress.com

    MONOTONE Theme
    I have 2 questions:

    1. Static page. I have a staic page set up– is there a way to click on the static page to take the viewer to the first post? Right now you go to my static page and the only way to see the photoblog is to click on “Archive” on the upper right corner.

    2. I have 8 images in the Archive but the viewer is unable to click through all 8 posts easily.. Clicking on first image under “Archive” what I want to happen is for the viewer to click on the image and the next post will load, and for them to click through all 8 images. What is happening, is that the first 2 or 3 images will load with clicking on the image, but then it will cycle back to the first or second image, and with enough clicking you may or may not get to the 8th image. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for any help.

    1. Create a new (blank) page, title it “Posts” or whatever you prefer, set it as your posts page in Settings>Reading, then write a link to it on the page you’ve set as your front.

    2. Can’t confirm what you’re describibng: tried both the images and the previous/next arrows, and they worked ok.

PS1 In my opinion, your front should have commenting turned off.

PS2 You’re uploading unnecessarily large files. This way you’re wasting uploading space, page loading is slower, and downscaling by the wp uploader causes some loss of color and sharpness. Plus, with images wider than 800px you don’t get the colored background left and right. Better downscale copies of your images in an image editing application and upload those copies.

    1. This is confusing to me. I’ve worked to build my own indexhibit website and have advanced skills in css however I do not understand your explanation. Under reading settings when I click the drop down menu for posts page and front page, there is nothing, just white space.

    2. Thanks, good to hear that you were able to click through all 8 images.

PS1.I think this is a good suggestion. How do I go about doing this.
PS2 I’m uploading via iphone with 640 x 480 selected and when I upload directly from my computer i am selecting the thumbnail icon.

    1. Could you clairify this part : “then write a link to it on the page you’ve set as your front.”
    Thanks!

    Re 1 and PS1:

You go to Pages > Add New, put “My Posts” in the title box, click Publish. Then go to Settings > Reading, select My Posts as your posts page, click Save Changes.

You go to Pages > Edit, click on the title of the page you’ve set as your front (to get to the page editor).
Untick “Allow Comments” and “Allow Pings” in the Discussion module.
Switch the editor to html and write this below the image code:
    <a href="http://livingportrait.wordpress.com/my-posts/">Click here for my posts</a>
    Click Update Page.

I would also suggest that a) you use a shorter image for this page, so that one won’t have to scroll down to see the link, b) leave its title box blank. Alternative: you can write the above link code in the title box of the page instead of the main text box.

    Re PS2:

You think you’re selecting thumbnail etc., but those options don’t work in Monotone. And I’m talking about the files you upload, not the versions you insert: the original file of your front page image, for instance, is 1600×1200.

Note: “Click here for my posts” is just an example – you can write whatever you prefer as the link text.
