Most of the widgets aren’t displayed with the theme “Twenty Ten” on mobile
-
Hello
I have used the theme named “Twenty Ten” on my blog for more than 15 years. I noticed a few days ago that when someone visits my blog with a mobile, it shows almost nothing, no categories, no word clouds, no archive. I looked further and I realized that this theme is no longer actively maintained.
How can I show at least the categories on mobile? If I switched to the theme named “Twenty Twenty-Four”, would it solve this problem? If yes, what should I do to ensure that this change won’t break my blog? I assume that switching to an actively maintained theme would be more future proof anyway, but I’d prefer not being surprised by the amount of time to fix things.
Best regards.

Hi there,
I can confirm that the Twenty Ten theme is currently retired. You can learn more about retired themes in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/retired-themes/.
I’ve taken a look, and your theme is currently using a previous feature, which uses a mobile theme. With this feature activated, it hides the sidebar on mobile devices. You’re welcome to disable this feature here: https://gouessej.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-options. That being said, this could cause issues with other mobile features on your site.
As you’ve mentioned, I would suggest switching to a newer theme, like the Twenty Twenty-Four theme, which uses the Site Editor, allowing for more customization options and flexibility. You can create a sidebar on this theme, or you are welcome to switch to a theme which matches more closely to the layout your current theme is using, like the Nook theme, for example: https://wordpress.com/theme/nook.
When switching themes, your existing pages, media, and other data are preserved on your site, but your site will take on the homepage and design of the new theme. You can learn more about how to change a theme and what happens in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/changing-themes/.
I would also suggest previewing your theme before activating it, by following the steps in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/changing-themes/#preview-a-theme.
Please let us know if you have any questions on this!

Thank you very much, I hadn’t found the mobile settings. I disabled the themes for mobile as a temporary solution. Switching to the Nook theme is a nice long term solution, I’ll do it when I have some days to dedicate to this and I’ll give you my feedback.
