I want to move it to the right side as there is lots of space, can someone help me? my blog ishttp://www.cookingandcreative.wordpress.com

You need to drag a Custom Menu widget to the Sidebar 1 area in Widgets (go to your dashboard, on the left side of it click on Appearance, then on Widgets). Then hopefully your sidebar will appear.

I have just changed the theme and it’s happening again – in the widgets it has FOOTER is this the problem?

I just had a look at your blog. Were you not using Fruit Shake before? I thought that was the theme you had when I answered you above. If so, it’s what you’re using now and you have your widgets in the side panel as you’d wanted. So, does this mean that you’ve gone back to the original theme and worked it out for yourself?
As for FOOTER, it is the name of the area at the bottom of the page on any page, or on any posts page. In Fruit Shake there are four possible areas for widgets. There is Sidebar 1, Footer Area One, Footer Area Two and Footer Area Three.
If you put any widgets into Sidebar 1 they will show to the right of your posts. If you put widgets into any of the Footer areas they will appear at the bottom, below all your posts (so people have to scroll down to see them). All that footer one,two and three mean is the positioning of the widgets. For instance, if you put a widget in each of the footer areas, you will get those appearing side by side on the same line. If you put no widgets in the Sidebar 1 area but just in the footer areas, you won’t see a sidebar at all, but you’ll see your widgets in the footer. If you use just footer one, the content of your widgets will stretch right across the space of the footer area.
However, where the widget areas are, are dependant on what theme you are using. Most of the other themes now don’t have footers, they use infinite scroll or, if you choose to change that in settings, an option to click for more posts. This will eventually be happening in Fruit Shake, apparently, but it hasn’t happened yet. I use Fruit Shake and have a pretty critical footer widget area so am keeping a nervous eye on the changes for this theme!
Also, I think you may be a bit confused by ‘menu’. Menu in most themes, though not in Fruit Shake, means the links at the top that link to pages and take one back to the home page. So for instance, you might see ‘Home’ ‘About’ ‘Archives’ ‘Contact’ or whatever pages a blogger has put there (a page is different from a post in that pages are static and don’t change, they don’t update).
In Fruit Shake, if you want to show a menu, you have to drag a Custom Menu widget into one of the widget areas.
Here are links to a few support documents that might help you understand these things better:

Please let us know if that still doesn’t sort out your problem and if it doesn’t, please let us have more details about what is wrong and I or one of the other volunteers will try to help you futher or, if we can’t, we’ll mark this topic for staff to look at.
