Move multiple wp.com domains to wp.org that is already set-up w/ guided transfer

I’m trying to figure out the best way to move my content and redirect the custom domains of four WP.com blogs I have to my new wp.org site that is on a developer sub-domain. Then once I copy all of the content, re-categorize, and finish uploading old site.com content to new dev.site.com (wp.org site) finish off by moving the dev.site.com to replace the old site.com once everything is consolidated, optimized for search rankings and ready to be moved over.

Will I have to pay separately for each wp.com domain I have (if I do a guided transfer)? I’m going pretty broke but want to make sure I am doing this correctly and could use all the help I can get.

I hope I am describing what I am trying to accomplish accurately enough please let me know if I need to clarify any objectives or inquiries :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your domains won’t expire until 2013-05-24. You can keep them with us but point them to your new self-hosted site. To point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), please follow the instructions here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/#changing-domain-name-servers

Note you will need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

Hope this helps – let us know if you have any more questions!

Thank you for the answer. I know how to point the domain names and I will do that. I’m concerned with if it does any good to have those domain names pointing as far as for search engine rankings or if I should just let them expire?

I was also wondering… Will I have to pay separately for each wp.com domain I have (if I do a guided transfer)?

  • There isn’t really any benefit or loss either way. If it were me, I’d keep the domains just until they expire.

There won’t be any additional cost for adjusting the domains to point to your new blog.
