Hi there,
You can download the Motif theme for your self-hosted WordPress site from the Motif theme page here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/motif/
In the sidebar on the right there, you can find a download link under “Sites & Info.” Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for the help. That download worked perfectly. I have two questions:
1) The customize screen of the theme does not seem to allow me to set the colors (other than background). Where would that setting be on wordpress.org hosting?
2) After moving my site, the testimonials page is fine, but the testimonial widget at the bottom of the homepage is not showing up. Am I missing a setting? Thanks
David

Small update… the testimonials are now showing on the homepage (they just hadn’t uploaded)… but there is no testimonial page. How can I get that to show?

Hi David,
1) The customize screen of the theme does not seem to allow me to set the colors (other than background). Where would that setting be on wordpress.org hosting?
The WordPress.org customizer is a bit different from the customizer here at WordPress.com. If you want to make other changes to the colors, you can do that with CSS. (However, don’t edit the theme files directly, otherwise your changes will be overwritten when the theme is updated.)
An easy way to add custom CSS is to install the Jetpack plugin and activate the Custom CSS module. You’ll then add your custom CSS in the new stylesheet editor that’ll appear in your dashboard, under Appearance > Edit CSS.
As alternatives, you could either install a standalone custom CSS plugin, or create a child theme.
If you get stuck with the CSS, you might want to check out our support page about How to Find Your Theme’s CSS or check out the WordPress.org support page about it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Finding_Your_CSS_Styles
I’m looking into the issue you mentioned about testimonials now, and I’ll send you another message about that once I have a bit more information.

Hi David,
I did a little more investigating, and it looks like Jetpack is required for the Testimonials feature (including the Testimonials archive page) to work correctly. I’d recommend setting up Jetpack on the new site to see if that resolves it for you.
If you continue have trouble getting the theme set up, please send me a link to the new site so I can take a closer look and see what’s going on there. :)

I also noticed that Jetpack is needed, so I already set it up (and activated it with wordpress.com). Now the testimonials work on the homepage, but the /testimonial URL does not work. Here is the link to my (temporary) site:

Hi David,
Thanks for letting me know. Can you check to see if the JSON API module is enabled in Jetpack? That enables full support for custom post types (like the testimonials you have on your site).
-
Thank you again for your help. I checked and JSON API module is enabled in Jetpack. However, I still get a 404 when I go to the testimonial page. Any other ideas?

We still get several errors when testing your site in http://jetpack.me/support/debug/
Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?
To do so, follow these steps:
1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
2) Click on “Help” tab in the upper right side of the page and click the link for “Jetpack Debugging Center.”
3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
5) Click the “Contact Support” button. Thanks!
