Moving a blog from free wp.com to wp.org with different permalink

  I have three blogs in a free plan of wordpress.com and I want to move it to my own and self-hosted domain build with wordpress.org. The problem is that the permalinks are not the same. In the three blogs the permalink is date/name_of_the_post and in my web is /name_of_the_post. I don’t want to loose my work on SEO in my blogs, and I don’t want to change my permalink in my web. So, I can’t use the redirect service of WordPress. What is the best way (not too much hours-money) to do it?

  Hi there!

  It’s not possible to change the permalink structure on a free WordPress.com site, so nothing we can do to help here.
  You could check some redirect plugins though. I’m sure folks at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ will be able to recommend something.

  Most folks in these forums have a free WordPress site hosted here with us, and thus can’t install plugins without upgrading. And since the upgraded sites come with direct support, those users don’t typically hang out here. So if you’re looking for plugin recommendations, you’ll likely find more relevant information if you’ll try the other forum.

  @shanvalenti I just wanted to add, the redirect upgrade will 301 redirect the free site to your new site:
  https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect/

  From there, your host can likely help you redirect those links again to the new canonical URLs, using .htaccess or whatever they happen to offer there.
