Moving blog to new domain
-
Until recently, I had a (little!) blog at eatsleepandtravel.blog. I purchased a new domain from 123-reg – speedtourismtravel.com – and wanted to move the original blog to this domain.
However, it wasn’t as simple as I thought – and now I don’t seem to have either live! I tried to move the new domain to WordPress and make speedtourismtravel.com my primary site, but my knowledge doesn’t extend any further! Do I need to move all of the content of the original site over? – and how do I make the new site live?!
Please help! Thanks :)

Hi there!
When the speedtourismtravel.com domain name was transferred to WordPress.com, we automatically copied over the domain’s public DNS records to keep any services connected to that domain intact. As such, even though you updated the domain to use our name servers and set it as your site’s primary address, it was still pointing away to a different web host.
Since that domain wasn’t pointing to the correct site, I went ahead and restored the domain’s default WordPress.com A records to ensure it points to your WordPress.com-hosted site. For reference, we have details about how to do that here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/#default-records
I have also provisioned an SSL security certificate for this domain.
Changes like these can take up to 72 hours to fully propagate across global servers, but you should see the correct site loading when you visit https://speedtourismtravel.com/ soon. (You may want to clear your browser’s cache if you’re not seeing the correct site after a few hours.)
On a related note: did you want to keep the eatsleepandtravel.blog domain name? I see it expired recently and is currently in redemption, so we may still be able to recover it for you. If the redemption period ends, we can’t guarantee you’ll be able to use that domain again. Let me know if you’d like to explore that option.
