moving domain

    I currently have a web site and I wanted to revamp it. I don’t want to take the old one down or change anything until I have a completed one to put in its place. Therefore I was unsure of what do to in regards to transferring the domain.

    Transferring the domain can wait until last.

    When you create a new WordPress.com site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/, you will have the option of selecting a free WordPress.com address instead of a custom domain. That address is yours for as long as you have the site, and is where the site is actually hosted on our servers.

    Your site will already be fully accessible and indexed by search engines at this free address, and unless you want to install plugins or a custom theme, you’ll be able to everything you need to on your site at this free address. Then you only connect/transfer your custom domain once you’re ready.
