Moving domains and search engines

I currently have a domain, http://www.newlightbulb.net. As the instructions in Domain Mapping indicate, I created a subdomain and now just need to get the domain inserted correctly on the wordpress website. My questions are below:
    1) Do I need to pay $10 annual fee in order for wordpress to point to my subdomain?
    2) If I route things where my subdomain points to my wordpress account so that wordpress is still hosting the blog, will the search engines count the traffic to my domain or from the wordpress domain? In other words, would my domain get a higher traffic totals if I arrange it this way?

    1) yes.
    2) Your domain will not ADD the WP.com blog’s juice to it, it’s going to start from zero with that domain at Google and Technorati. There’s another post about this a few posts down so scroll down on the front page and read the Domain-related threads.
