Moving from Weebly to WordPress

  Hi there,

  I’m currently thinking of moving my Weebly website to WordPress for SEO reasons. Now I’m being prompted to pay for an annual subscription before I’ve even started?

  How can I ensure that I can comfortably move all of my website to WordPress and have it looking presentable with everything working before having to pay anything? I would hate to pay for an annual subscription only to find that the process is very long winded and I have to recreate my website from scratch and the “published” site still be the Weebly one for weeks/months until I am happy publishing the new wordpress site?

  This is all a bit confusing so any help here would be greatly appreciated!

  Oh, that automatic post at the bottom there saying I need help with the blog dghypnotherapy.wordpress.com I think this is my issue? my website is not a blog.

  The only time you’ll be prompted to pay for something is if you’ve selected a paid upgrade, either during or after creating your site. This includes if you’re trying to add a custom domain to your site. If you’re importing content from another site moving the domain to us should be the very last step, though.

  A blog is a website. The only difference between a blog and a traditional website is in how you set it up, and that site is the only site you’ve thus far created in your WordPress.com account.

  In order to import content from any other site the first step is always to create a free WordPress.com site first, as that’s where you will be transferring your content and your domain to.
