Moving my website to WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a domain name at 123reg but I am not completely happy with the service.
I have a domain name that runs until 2024.

My website is Apexgroupservices.co.uk and it requires ”Mapping” as it is not supported by wordpress as its a .uk site.

Could I have someone call myself to explain this and work out the best way to transfer this over.

    Chris

  • Hi Chris –

    You are right.

Our domain mapping instructions are available on this page for reference:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

When the domain is mapped, or pointed to WordPress.com we then take over as your hosting provider. Since we offer a managed hosting environment that really allows you to focus on the site content and your voice there.

My suggestion is to add the personal plan to your account. This is the entry level mapping option. It will include your hosting and access to our support staff.

Then, ask 123reg to update the name servers on your domain to those mentioned in that first link I shared.

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

That tells the internet that your site is now on our service and the WordPress.com version will load in browsers.

The domain registration will remain at 123reg, and hopefully by 2024 when it expires you could then transfer that registration to us. But for now, mapping is the way to go.

I hope that helps. Write back to us with any other questions.
