Moving Subscribers from .org to .com
-
I have a website that I am assisting with and they have recently moved from WordPress.org to WordPress.com. Their old site is still having a lot of traffic based upon search terms and people are subscribing to the old site, but not the new site. Is there any way to migrate followers from .org to .com? Thank you!

Hi there,
The only way to migrate followers from a self-hosted site, is if they were following you via the Jetpack plugin on that site. If you used a different plugin for subscriptions, there’s no way to import them here.
But followers also have nothing to do with search engine traffic. Search engines index your site at a specific address. I see you did not connect the domain you had for your self-hosted site to your new WordPress.com site, which means search engines will need to re-index your site at the new address. This can take up to 8 weeks, but once your site is re-indexed your search engine traffic should return to what it was before.
