Moving to FULL real wordpress? Currently redirecting
-
Hi I’ve seen a couple different articles but it will be easier for me to ask here.
I have kamiakguard.org registered through go daddy. I redirected it to me FREE wordpress.com website. And it’s been great. But I’m finding the limitations pretty quickly.
I am looking to be able to use <Iframe> and <embed> functions and it doesn’t seem to be working. It seems that I dont understand the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com
If it is easier to just switch my regisration and hosting all over to wordpress I am open to all of that. I just don’t want to lose the work I’ve done on my page as it exists. I’m trying to embed pages from youtube, flickr, and googlesites.
Thank you!

Hi there, let me try to help.
I am looking to be able to use Iframe and embed functions and it doesn’t seem to be working.
First, you can learn what types of code we allow on WordPress.com in this support document. We don’t allow iframe or embed tags for security reasons.
It seems that I dont understand the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com
Here is a good article explaining the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you have further questions after having a peek at that, just let me know and I’ll be glad to help.
If it is easier to just switch my regisration and hosting all over to wordpress I am open to all of that. I just don’t want to lose the work I’ve done on my page as it exists.
If you do decide to switch to a self-hosted site, you can export your content from your WordPress.com and import it into your self-hosted site.
I’m trying to embed pages from youtube, flickr, and googlesites.
It is super easy to embed YouTube videos – all you need to do is put the YouTube URL on one line and it’ll be embedded automatically. Here is our full guide to embedding YouTube videos.
Here are three pages about how to incorporate Flickr media into WordPress.com:
– Flickr Photos
– Flickr Video
– Flickr WidgetWe don’t have a means to embed Google Sites, but you can link to an external site from within a page, post, or widget.
Just let me know if you need further help.

Hi thanks! That document on the differences is what I’ve been searching for!
I’ve been able to embed a SINGLE youtube video… but what I really want is a whole youtube channel or account embedded.
Same thing for the Flickr account. I want the whole photostream or sets/gallery to show within my page, not individual photos. I’m already using the widget in my sidebar.
My overriding idea is that for the videos and pictures I don’t want people to have to navigate away from the site to view them all. This is a site for a High School team and the flickr and youtube accounts are shared so that parents can upload videos and pictures they’ve taken at competitions to share with all the other parents, and to share on our website.
If I HAVE To just have a link to the videos and the flickr accounts, then I suppose I should change the links to open in a new page.
Thanks again for the help. other than running into these issues wordpress has been great to work with. Although.. I think some of the widgets could use a little work (the countdown one should be in exact number of days!), and a little more flexibility would be great.

You’re very welcome, I’m glad this helped differentiate between the two flavours of WordPress.
If I HAVE To just have a link to the videos and the flickr accounts, then I suppose I should change the links to open in a new page.
You can definitely do that if you like.
If I can help with anything else, just let me know.

If you think a widget is not working as it should, feel free to start a new thread to describe the issue in detail, and add the tag modlook in the Tags area so a Staff member will help you out. Thanks!
