Moving Wix-bought domain to WordPress: possible?

    Not sure if this can even be done but here goes: (forgive me if get the jargon wrong, I’m new to this.)

    I bought my name as a domain from Wix.com. Initially, I wanted to use Wix to create my website but Wix does not let me post or work on my site from my tablet, which I find most convenient to use when I’m on the go. So I wanted to move my domain name to WordPress.

    This is where things get difficult. Wix tells me to contact WordPress support. WordPress support says I need Wix to make changes to some of the technical mumbo jumbo that I, as a beginning website owner, have zero clue what to do or what’s supposed to happen. I have tried contacting both Wix and WordPress, who both seem to be directing me to contact the other website.

    Can somebody, please, in the simplest terms possible, describe to me if its even possible to move a domain I bought at Wix over to WordPress? If not, please redirect me to the nearest person who can refund me for the subscription I will not need or want to pay for here.

    Oh hi @jillianyuen, we talked a bit on Twitter last night. Sorry you’ve been running in circles over this.

    First, here’s the current status: your upgrades are already cancelled and refunded, which is why you reached the community forums instead of direct support.

    If you would still like to use our services though, it is possible to point a domain here. First, you’d buy the upgrade again. Then you’d change the domain’s settings so it shows this site instead of the Wix site.

    Your domain was registered through Network Solutions, so you would log into Network Solutions and update the domain settings to these:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM ,
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM , and
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    After that, you would need to allow a few hours for it to take full effect, but you could get in touch with support so we can double check the settings for you. Let us know if you need more help!
