Multiple accounts?

    Hi. I have just received a huge amount of emails from wordpress with new accounts and passwords created with my email address. It might be spam i just wanted to make sure someone is not using my info to create fake accounts.

    Hi there,

    We did not send those emails – I’m guessing the email address is wordpress@, not @wordpress.com – but someone is likely using your email to create fake user profiles on random self-hosted WordPress sites, possibly in an attempt to hack them.

    There has been a recent increase in this type of spam, but as the emails are not being sent out by our system there’s not much we can do about it. We don’t control the sites that are sending out these emails to you.

    I suggest you set up a filter in your email client to automatically delete these emails, using a common phrase in the subject line as the filter criteria.
