Multiple accounts/usernames after changing hosting from WordPress
-
I moved my hosting from WordPress to another site. Now it seems like I have 2 WordPress accounts. The original one at WordPress, where I created the domain name (skillsoverstuff.com), and a 2nd one, or at least a different user name when I log in through the new host site.
The thing is, from either site, I’m only set up as one user, and the other username isn’t available. It seems like I should still have the same username, account, etc., and since I’ve already paid to upgrade the domain name to remove the .wordpress from the url, I don’t understand what the problem is.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
WordPress.com is a completely separate entity from WordPress.org, so your WordPress.com login details won’t work on a self-hosted WordPress.org site. We have more information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here, if you’re interested: WordPress.com and WordPress.org
If you’d like help with the setup for your self-hosted WordPress.org site (such as setting up a new username to match your WordPress.com username), you can get help in the WordPress.org support forums here:
Please let me know if you have any questions. :)

Hi there,
I just saw that you also wrote to us separately to say that you were having trouble getting to the right log-in screen:
I transferred my hosting, but not my domain (skillsoverstuff.com) to another company. The site shows up fine at skillsoverstuff.com. But when I try to log in as admin (skillsoverstuff.com/wp-admin) i keep getting redirected to (skillsoverstuff.wordpress.com/wp-admin). I can log in with my old wordpress info, but not the new admin account I created while importing my wordpress file into the new servers.
If you’re still having trouble with this, can you please try clear your browser’s cache? Let me know if you still have any trouble with this.

OK. I had tried clearing the cache, and that seemed to help.
So I guess I just have to keep both accounts/logins?
The one that’s hosted elsewhere (skillsoverstuff.com) is wordpress.org. That’s what I’ll use to actually manage the blog/site.
The first one I set up (skillsoverstuff.wordpress.com), where I paid for the domain name upgrade to remove the .wordpress, will just be used to renew the domain registration now, not to make any actual changes to the blog.
Does that sound correct?
I have 3 posts showing correctly on the .com site, and none showing on the wordpress.com site. The weird thing is that I can make changes to the wordpress.com site (title, theme, etc.), and they show up on the .com version. Is that probably due to the cache issue?
Thanks for the help!

The other issues you described sound like caching issues to me — there’s no connection between WordPress.com and your self-hosted site, so it’s impossible for changes you make on one end to affect the other site.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else. :)
