Multiple Domains

Currently I have a site hosted on wordpress.com, and am thinking of having a single page where members can access using a different domain. This page will sum up information found in the main site.

Can this be done? i.e., can the new domain point to the single page that is not the main page? Or is this considered multiple sites.

  • Hi there,

What you’re describing is commonly referred to as a landing page.

To have that on WordPress.com, you’ll either need a separate site (with its own paid plan), or you’ll need to use a landing page plugin which requires our Business Plan.

But it’s not possible to map a domain to a specific page on a site, just to a site as a whole.

So you’re saying that both domains will lead to the same page, and if I install the landing plugin, then both domains will lead to the landing page?

If so, what if I used subdomains? www to the main page, and a subdomain to my summary page?

  • If you had a Business Plan with a landing page plugin, the domain can lead to the landing page and then the site.

Or, you could have two sites here, one for the landing page with one domain, and another with the site on another domain.

As for subdomains, you can definitely map those: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-subdomain/

Alternatively, consider one site with one domain, but use a static front page: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/
