MX record request

Hello there, I’ve just been talking to my web host and I need your support to allow me to set up my business email through them, please see the below from their tech team:

From Fasthost: To use our mail server, you’ll need to contact wordpress since they have the full control of your DNS. You’ll need to ask them to point the MX record to us. I will provide our DNS records below to point your MX records to Fasthosts.

    A records

Host Name: Mail Points to: 213.171.216.40
Host Name: Mailserver Points to: 213.171.216.40

    MX records

Host Name: @ Points To: mailserver.yourdomain Priority: 10

    Kind regards,
    Chloe

  • Hi there, I don’t see any registered domain names under your account here.

What is the domain name you’re referring to?

I believe it is foxandsquirrel.co/ registered at tucows.
The website shows an error. Maybe their didnt renew their plan?

  • Ah, excellent catch, that domain is registered with Tucows, with its name servers directed to us, but the paid plan attached to it expired, so the domain’s DNS cannot be managed here.

Tucows primarily works with resellers, and per https://tucowsdomains.com/provider-result/ it’s actually registered with FastHosts.

So, @chloethwaites what you’ll need to do is either one of two things:

    1. Purchase a new paid plan https://wordpress.com/pricing/ so you can manage the domain’s DNS here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/

    2. Change the domain’s name servers through FastHost (check their documentation for specifics) so the domain directs elsewhere, then change the DNS through where that domain is directed.
