Thanks so much! It looks like your domain is not currently pointing to your WordPress.com site. In order for the records entered through your WordPress.com dashboard to be active, your name servers need to be set to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf your name servers are intentionally pointed elsewhere, you’ll need to contact that host to set up these DNS records.
Does that make sense? Let me know if I can clarify anything!

thanks shawna,
we had the domain pointing to wordpress.com but changed it back when we couldn’t get our email to work
i have now pointed it to wordpress.com
perhaps you’re in california and can do this today
please let me know
if you can’t do it before the weekend i will change it back until monday
thanks

Hi Barbara!
It looks like you changed your name servers back again. I work some odd hours on the weekend, so if you want to change them back to WordPress.com again. I can do this before Monday.
It looks like you’ve given me the DNS records for barbaraforeman.ca. Are you trying to replicate these DNS settings for barbaraforeman.com? Just want to make sure I understand what you gave me before I change your DNS settings. :)

Hi there!
I’ve made a change to your DNS settings, but I’m not sure it’s going to work. (And it looks like your name servers aren’t pointing at WordPress.com again.)
Can you give me some more information about your mail host? Who hosts your email? What are the specific DNS records that your hosting provider gave you? Usually there’s a CNAME record and a couple of MX records.

hi shawna
thanks for your help
yes i had to revert to the former name servers so the client could receive her email
i see cname and mx records here: http://empoweryou.ca/barbaraforeman-dns-settings.jpg
if there is something else we need i would be happy to get if for you
if you could tell me when you wish to try again i will change the NS records to wordpress.com
thanks for your help -
I do see CNAME and MX records there, but they all point to the actual domain. In order for the domain to be mapped to WordPress.com, and the MX records to still point to the mail server I need to setup an actual IP address of the mail server.
Currently, I’ve set the CNAME mail.barbaraforeman.com to point to the IP address listed in the A record. If that isn’t correct though, their email will not work.
If that is correct, you can change the name servers and everything should start running smoothly within a few hours.
Once you change the name servers, this site (without the customization options) will appear when the domain is visited:
