My blog URL has a Typo!

  When setting up my account, my WordPress site name was entered incorrectly as “stizhammer.com.” The correct site name should be “sitzhammer.com.” Please correct this for me, or send me instructions on how to make this correction. Many thanks.

  Hi there,

  When you register a domain name, you register that exact name to use with your site. There isn’t a way to change the name once it’s registered, so to correct typos the domain name you purchased needs to be cancelled and the correct domain name registered instead: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/#typos

  I went ahead and cancelled the incorrect domain name and issued you credit to register a new domain name, instead.

  However, I checked and the domain name you’d like (sitzhammer.com) has already been registered somewhere else:

  http://who.is/whois/sitzhammer.com

  If you registered that domain name, please let me know and I can help you map it to your WordPress.com site.

  Otherwise, you’ll need to choose a different, unique domain name. (You might want to consider a different domain ending like sitzhammer.co or sitzhammer.net.)

  Hi Bobbe,

  Sure thing! I added domain mapping for the domain sitzhammer.com to your site. You will also need to point your domain to the WordPress.com name servers:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Your domain registrar can help you with that step if you’re not sure how. You can also find a guide for domain mapping here: Map an Existing Domain

  Also, since domain mapping is only $13 per year, I issued a refund for the remaining $13 you paid for the other, cancelled domain. You should see that refund appear on your bank statement within about the next 10 business days.
