My blog viewer invitations failed to send – without any clue on why.

    I’m inviting a group of 60 odd people to view the FAQ site I made for them. It worked four times, but now it is saying the invitation failed to send, no other error messages or what to do. Please let me know how I can send invitations to the other half of the group.
    I’m on a free account. Is that the issue?

    Hi there,

    I assume you’re referring to baftafaq.wordpress.com, rather than bafaomu.wordpress.com, indicated on your post?

    There is a maximum number of invitations that can be open on a site at a time, just like there’s a limit on the number of invitations that you can send at once. Both limits are there to prevent the invitation system from being abused to spam people.

    As soon as more people accept the invites, you should be able to send more.

    Just a note, though – it appears you’ve been inviting people as Followers. Please note that for them to be able to see a private site, you’ll need to add them as Viewers first, and they’ll have to create their own WordPress.com username accounts if they don’t have those already. It’s not possible to view a private site without being logged into a WordPress.com account, and you cannot follow a private site via email only like you can a public site.

    After accepting the invitation, a Viewer will be able to follow the blog in the same way that they can follow a public blog.

    Thanks for your reply.
    It worked after a while – should’ve been more patient.

    The invitees have been added to my site users as viewers – that’s what I want, isn’t it? I’m not too clear on what you mean by I’m inviting them as followers.

    It’s all good, though, I think it’s working.
