My domain expired so can I just use the wordpress.com domain instead?

my domain expired and i want to use howtoinvestintelligently.wordpress.com instead. do i still have to pay for this domain?

No you do not have to pay for howtoinvestintelligently.wordpress.com – this is free. I can remove the expired domain from your account, but I do want to confirm something beforehand. I understand you would like to completely cancel your custom domain: howtoinvestintelligently.com, but please note that this is different from other upgrades and is stated during the purchase process.
Canceling a domain at this time means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.

All i need is howtoinvestintelligently.wordpress.com. All my previous blog posts will still be there right? As long as readers can access howtoinvestintelligently.wordpress.com, i’m fine.
