My "domain is parked"
-
I purchased a domain for a friend five days ago to create his acting site. I began to work on it today, purchase a separate theme, etc. This led me to realize that I needed to purchase the business plan to implement the theme I very much wanted to use.
After doing some research, I found that if I transferred the domain to bluehost, I would be able to take care of this on my own. I thought all was good to go, but I must have missed a step. Now, my domain is parked and I have removed the domain from wordpress. I’m at a loss of what to do. Please help! Thank you in advance!

Sorry about that! You’ll be able to control the domain now.
You won’t be able to transfer the domain until 60 days from purchase, due to ICANN regulations: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
However, you can direct the domain to your new hosting provider by changing its name servers: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/change-name-servers/

Hi there– thank you for the assistance!
It is still showing up as the domain being parked. I repurchased the personal plan after having cancelled it hoping that would help– no luck.

It’s definitely working on this end.
When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, your domain may go to its old location, and you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors.”
If you still have trouble viewing the site after 24 hours have passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache: http://www.refreshyourcache.com/
If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache: https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html
