    I closed my account to move to square space and have been waiting more than a week for the domain http://www.michaelbuckleywrites.com to transfer. Can someone look into the problem and let me know if there is something I need to do on my end?

    If you’re wanting to transfer your domain, you should never cancel it at your current host because once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it. Also, it usually takes a few weeks for your domain registration to clear and become available once you cancel it. There isn’t an exact time, however, so you’ll be checking consistently to see when it becomes available.

    If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site

    Anything you can do to help me get it back is greatly appreciated. Naturally, I’m learning a lot of what I should have done after the fact. :(
