How do I cancel my wordpress account as my domain name has expired and I am having all kinds of trouble reregistering it, thanks

Hi there,
Of what domain are you speaking? The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here has never owned any domains with us, and even if you had, there’s no possible way that having a WordPress.com account can prevent you from registering any domain anywhere.
Still, you can close your WordPress.com username account from the account settings screen:
If your domain expired recently it’s likely still going through the expiration process – expired domains go through a lengthy process that lasts 80+ days before they’re released and become available for registration again, and during that process it gets progressively more difficult and expensive to get the expired domain back.
In that case you need to contact the domain provider where you had the domain registered right away to get the domain recovery process started, or else you run the risk of losing the domain completely.

Thanks so much for your help. Someone else set this up for me so I think the domain has expired through IPAGE ? I am just frustrated because it seems so hard to re register (the payment is 3 days late and they said they sent me an email 30 days ago but I cannot find it). I appreciate your help but the site is only a tiny site with some poetry on it so I will just follow your instructions and close the WordPress.com username account with thanks.
