my facebook likes were reset to zero

  • Unknown's avatar

I used to have thousands of combined facebook likes to my posts, with the last 4 posts having a combined like count of around 2000. One day a few months ago the count was reset to Zero. I was hoping that it would fix itself like it has done in the past, but it didn’t.

To clarify: I never made any changes to the url’s or any changes at all.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I noticed that your most recent post is from August 2014. Last year we started serving all *.wordpress.com subdomains (like your site dancingwithpalestinians.wordpress.com) over SSL, to make the connection to your site more secure. You can read more about that change if you’re interested:

    Reset the Net

Because of that, the links to your site switched from starting with http:// to https://. However, if your posts were shared with the http:// link before that change, Facebook counts that as a different link and won’t include those sharing counts anymore. Since those sharing counts come directly from Facebook, WordPress.com can’t control those counts directly.

However, any sharing that was done since that change (or on new posts you create) will be counted there.
