my gmail account is being hacked from wp.com
-
Hi
Someone following my site on wp.com has a link on their wp.com profile for JPS DIGITAL MARKETING PROMOTIONS & REVIEWS which goes to my gmail account.
When I click their profile link to go to that site, it takes me to my gmail.
Can you change that link or delete it?
Thanks for any help

Hi Joe, I’m not sure I follow. Could you send a link to the site you’re referring to, or tell us which user is giving you trouble?

Hi
Thanks for your response.I do not know the name of the person.
His profile is at: http://en.gravatar.com/jpspromotions
You will see a supposed website link for JPS DIGITAL MARKETING PROMOTIONS & REVIEWS. But when I click the link for it, it goes into my gmail account when I have it open, and it goes to gmail login when I’m not in my gmail account.
Therefore he can actually get inside my gmail account if I’m already logged into it, just as if he were me.
He started following me on 10/19/19.
I don’t think there’s much point in me deleting him following me, as the gmail link would still remain.
I think the link or his whole profile needs deleting.
I’ve changed my gmail password but to no effect.
Thanks.

I can confirm what TS tells. That link tries to redirect to http://jps%(email visible only to moderators and staff)/

That link isn’t a website link. I think this person tried to link to their email account but added it as a website instead.
When you click the link, it strips off the “user” part of the email address and just goes to gmail.com — so not hacking, just a broken link.

Hi
If I am in my gmail account and he clicks that link, he enters my gmail account and can change anything and read anything and click any of the links to other sites.
How can I stop him getting access to my private gmail account?
Thanks

Hi there,
But when I click the link for it, it goes into my gmail account when I have it open, and it goes to gmail login when I’m not in my gmail account.
That is what would happen when you click on any email address – your default email account opens so that you can send them an email. It’s not an attempt for this user to hack you – rather it is the function of quickly emailing someone who provided an email address. So as @supernovia mentioned not hacking, just a possible broken link, or more likely just contact information for people to get in touch with him through his Gravatar.
Therefore he can actually get inside my gmail account if I’m already logged into it, just as if he were me.
They would only be able to do this if they had your login credentials. This is happening because you are logged into your own gmail account – it goes to your own gmail account. If that user or even I clicked on that email address it would go to our own gmail/email account, not yours.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi
Ok I get it.
Thanks for your help and supernovia’s, and especially your last clear answer.
All the best.
