My host, Netfirms disabled my site due to an inundation of spam comments. I had a Captcha app and Askimet installed, but still, the spammers got through. I called Netfims and was told to clear out the spam and call them back and they’d get my site back up. I did and they did, but WordPress seems to think I am a new user now. Is my site gone forever? How do I fix this?

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble. However, http://www.jeffreyweinberger.com is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/
