My ipadio.com will no longer cross post to my wordpress.com blog…
-
I’ve noticed that my wordpress.com blog stopped accepting posts from my ipadio.com account. Are these being intentionally blocked by wordpress.com so that I have to purchase something or is this just a bug? It would be nice to know rather than just the broken functionality that had been quite handy.

You may want to post into this thread where podcasting issues are being discussed https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/better-podcast-support?replies=7

I appreciate your attempt to refer me to an answer, but my question is less about using wordpress to podcast than it is about a lost service connection. Ipadio.com has a crosspost feature that allows me to supply my wordpress url and credentials so that a post in there system will be automagically be posted to my wordpress blog. I want to know if this is broken by accident at the api level and will be remedied or if it was intentionally broken to stop me from doing it.

I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Note: The URL of your blog is now https://photoblogability.wordpress.com/ as Staff have been implementing the more secure https:// and I’m thinking that could have something to do with your issue but Staff will clarify if that’s the case or not. Please be patient while waiting.

I’ve tried to change the WordPress URL to include the ‘s’ in ipadio, but sadly, that hasn’t solved the problem.
-
Me, too. That’s why I suspect that its broken at the api level either accidentally or on purpose.

I send this to my students this morning.
Regarding the problem some of you have encountered when trying to cross-post your best recordings on ipadio to your e-portfolio on WordPress, I got this email from ipadio help this morning.
Hi Chris,
We were experiencing problems with users who has their WordPress account setup on https://. A fix has now been created for this, although it may be a day or two before the update is pushed out.
Apologies for any inconveniences,

Thanks for making us aware of this. Given the response you got @chrisfrybcn – it sounds like the issue is on ipadio’s side, but let me know if there’s something I can do to help!

@raincoaster – Not sure what you’re referring to? We allow users to use many different programs to post to their sites. Let me know if you have a concern you want me to address.

I’m just wondering because in previous years staffers have said that automated, un-original posting (i.e. cross posting) to a WP.com blog is against the Terms of Service. I remember because they changed the software to disallow one service and everyone using it went crazy. Not talking about using an offline blog editor, but more like using WP.com as an automated aggregator.
-
We don’t discourage cross-posting as long as your site here on WordPress.com isn’t solely meant to direct traffic somewhere else (ie link spamming).
If all you do is crosslink to your ‘real’ site, yes we don’t allow that. It doesn’t look like that’s the case here, but I’d be happy to have the ToS team review this thread or sites you have your eye on, if you’d like.

What my students are doing is cross posting their best recordings to their e-portfolios. This is likely to be one or two postings a week. What they are aiming at is to create an e-portfolio of their very best speaking and writing. I’m sure what we are doing falls within the ToS of WordPress.
Here are two examples:

https://mdterres001.wordpress.com/PS I checked to see if the update had been pushed through to users this morning, but it hadn’t

Yep! It looks like both of those examples fall well within our Terms of Service. :)
Let me know if I can help with anything else, or if you hear from ipadio again!

I have just checked that cross-posting from ipadio to WordPress is working again.
If you had problems with cross-posting your best ipadio recordings to your WordPress e-portfolio, you should be able to make it work now.
You’ll need to change the address to https://chrisfrybarcelona.wordpress.com
with an ‘s’ after http
I’ve just tried this out and it now works -

One of my students told me that it didn’t work for her, so I decided to check it again myself and to my dismay, I found that it didn’t work anymore.
I then checked my WordPress blogs to see if there was any sign of the successful crossposting, but found none.
I’m beginning to wonder if I really succeeded when I said I had, but maybe I just deleted a test post…..
I’ll get back to ipadio help about it -
