My purchased domain is no longer on WordPress.com

I purchased my domain last month through bluehost and it was tied to WordPress.com without issue until the middle of last month (my funnel broke). At some point, the URL disappeared and every time I try to reattach my page to wordpress directly, it says that I don’t have a WordPress site. THEN early this morning, I get an email welcoming me to wordpress with a mydomain.wordpress.com (a site address I did NOT set up) and it shows as though this page is the only one to select as a domain. What is happening here??

Hi there! It sounds like there are a few different issues here:
– Our records show you created a new site about 17 hours ago. That might have been an accident — possibly when you trying to reconnect the site?
– The domain you bought through Bluehost was likely connected to a copy of the free WordPress software. And that copy of WordPress is also likely hosted with them. Does that sound right, and if so, can you contact their support for help ensuring your domain is connected properly?

If you intended to create a new site with us, or move an existing site to our services, we can help. If you have a site with Bluehost already and it stopped working because of your domain connection, can you reach out to them directly?

Like I said, I didn’t create anything. If I had, the email that I received at nearly 3am the following day wouldn’t have caught me off guard. I have been trying to reconnect my purchased domain for WEEKS since THIS is the one that needs to be there. You are not making any sense. How would I know whether a domain that I purchased through bluehost used a free version of WordPress??? All I know is that one day my site was there and that now it’s not. Bluehost says to talk to you since it’s your product and you’re saying to talk to them. This is beyond frustrating.

What is the URL of the domain you purchased at BlueHost? We might have better luck digging into the situation with that information.

I’m not going to list it here since this is a public forum but since you can see certain things on your end internally, just like in the original post: while the incorrect site under my account currently shows as mydomain.wordpress.com – remove the “.WordPress” from it and you will have my actual domain name.
