Twenty Fourteen is a responsive layout theme. Know that responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive width theme we go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

    Hi there,

After looking at the uploaded image, I found that what you are seeing is the intended nature of that theme. Please note that the theme is designed so that it is 1260 pixels wide. Anything past that will show that grey area.

As it was built into the theme this way there wouldn’t be a way to change this. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
