my site is broken :(

I just bought domains at GoDaddy.com, and plan to publish my store with wordpress.com. And looking for a theme that I like for my store, buy one. And when I installed it, my page didn’t work anymore. And then, investigating how to solve this problem, I realized that in some cases you can only use those issues when your account is for business. And then they give me options, pass all the godaddy hosting to you, or only a part, but if I change the DNS, I already pay the privacy in Godaddy, and once you change them, and you want to return with them, you have to go back to Pay privacy.
So I do not know what to do. This is very frustrating because I am investing money and time. Please help!

  • Hi there,

Let me clear the confusion. If you want to host your store with us you’ll need to purchase our Business or eCommerce plan and install a plugin like WooCommerce.

You can keep your domain with GoDaddy and point it to us, but you don’t have to have a hosting plan with them. Instructions on how to do that can be found here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

If you already have a private domain registration with GoDaddy, it will have no effect to it if you host your store with us, nor is it needed to pay us for private registration.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Ok, about losing the privacy of my data, when I change the hosting of my page, it already happened to me when I went to another company for my online store, that’s why I said. Still thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Regards! :)

  • What exactly do you mean by the privacy of your data? Your customer database?

Could you also give me a link to your current store so I can see if you can safely migrate it over to WooCommerce?

Hi friend. What I mean is when you go to the site “http://whois.domaintools.com” (for example), and there you put the link of the domain you are looking for and in the results the data of the domain owner comes out. In my case, I have the privacy of my data. And only godaddy data comes out. If I migrate my domain to another server, I fear that privacy will be removed. That is what I am talking about, because it already happened to me with another domain. By the way, the link to my store is http://www.volebuggy.com; I’m still preparing it.

  • Domain privacy has to do with your domain registration, not with where your domain/site is hosted.

You can host a site with us, without moving your domain registration away from GoDaddy.

That said, we provide private registration for free for all .com domains registered with us on WordPress.com:
