my subscribers did not receive an email when I posted my last blog post

    my subscribers (350 +) didn’t get an email when I published my last post. The post is http://lisamariedesanto.com/2013/08/24/a-case-against-fomo/

    Hi there,

    I’d be happy to look into this. Can you give me the email addresses of a few of the people who didn’t get an email for your last post? I can use that information to investigate this for you.

    If any of your subscribers are using Gmail, you may also want to ask them to check their Social and Promotions tabs (as well as their Spam folders). Gmail has a new feature that may send emails from WordPress.com to one of those tabs instead of your Primary inbox:

    Rachel – Thanks a million for looking into this. The two people who complained about missing the notification do have gmail addresses so that “might” be the problem. I also have an email address, so I checked your suggestion about the “social” tab (when did THAT get there?) and sure enough that’s where my notification was. BUT I’d still like to be sure, so here are a few addresses for you to check. If you wouldn’t mind making sure that the notification was sent I’d greatly appreciate it. Maybe I’ll also subscribe to my own blog from a separate, non gmail address to be sure of this working in the future…

    Thanks so much for your help in this. Meanwhile, not all of my followers email addresses are visible to me and many follow through facebook – so I’m not sure how I’d notify them, in the future, if there was a problem or my gmail followers if the social tab is the problem.

    Sorry for this choppy email – I’m off to work and have to hurry. Looking forward to hearing what you find out!

    Hi LisaMarie,

    I checked those email addresses, and not all of them are subscribed to receive updates via email. However, the ones who are subscribed via email did receive a notification.

    You can check all of your WordPress.com and email subscribers from your stats page here: http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/

    Near the bottom of the page, in the “Totals, Followers, and Shares” box, you can click on the “Blog” link to see all of your WordPress.com and email subscribers. If someone follows you via Facebook, they won’t receive email notifications about your blog posts — but you can encourage them to visit your site and subscribe via email.
