I have never built a website before and I’m not really sure what to do. I want to become an affiliate marketer (just to promote other people’s businesses/products because I don’t really have any original ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. Please help!

While we do allow affiliate links on WordPress.com, we require that they are relevant to original content you create on your site. For example, if you do an original book review of a book you read, you’re welcome to include an affiliate link to that book’s page on Amazon.
But we don’t allow sites that exist for the sole purpose of driving traffic to affiliate sites, and it sounds like that’s what you’re planning to do. In that case, you won’t be able to make your site with us.
You will be able to create such a site at another hosting provider using the free, open source version of WordPress found on WordPress.org, though. There are many excellent tutorials on Youtube and sites like wpbeginner.com that will guide you through the process of getting your site started, and for specifically building the type of site you want to create.
