  im looking to have a book lounge on my blog where customers can talk about the books they read and interact with the authors. my second question if i give other users acces to the blog what all can they do and how do i set that up. does it work on the free word press account i already have.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Basically, no.

  But there is a workaround.

  You can register a forum somewhere else, or a new blog using the P2 theme, which is much like a forum, and use a custom menu to link to it from your header or sidebar and direct people there.

  thank yo for responding. so if i get the p2 theme. how do i use the custom menu to link to it from my header or side bar

  Understand, it needs to be a separate site from your regular site. P2 isn’t built to be a regular website or blog. Then once you’ve registered the new site, there are the instructions to use a Custom Menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
