My WordPress account page shows duplicate websites

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
Under the ‘My Sites’ button in my WordPress account console, when clicking the ‘Switch site’ option, I have two identical titles (both show the correct domain address – keirascandles.co.nz ).
One is showing the correct FavIcon, the other has a generic icon.
Both seem to lead to the same console, which shows a red exclamation mark that when clicked says ‘This site cannot be accessed.’ and a link saying ‘I’d like to fix this now’.
The site is accessible to the public and Jetpack diagnostics pass with no error.
The stats showing in the WordPress site console are wrong.
Woocommerse.com app fails to connect to the site, and saying ‘duplicate site detected’.
I suspect one of these is a ghost and may be causing a problem but I don’t know which one is the real one nor how to remove the duplicate.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I’m not sure I understand, when I look at the sites you have connected to your WordPress.com account I see only one listed here: https://wordpress.com/sites/

Were you able to sort this out on your own, or did you need a hand still?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.
I was just about to post here that the problem seems to have resolved after disconnecting all my ads, woo and Jetpack accounts and then destroying the staging copy of the site.
That seem to have eliminate the duplicate listing, and then I was able to recreate all connections.
Not a very elegant solution as I lost my early statistics but since it is a fairly new site it’s not the end of the world.

    Cheers!

  • Hi again,

Thanks for clarifying. We’re not the best point of contact for Jetpack support questions, but generally speaking it is possible to recover those stats since they are stored on our end. It’s usually a matter of determining which site stats need to be merged with which.

Please reach out to our Jetpack team directly and they would be able to assist in recovering those stats, thanks!
