Need A New Blog But Separate From All Others

    Hi Everyone!

Sorry if the title of my post is confusing. I have had this particular account since 2014. I have several .com and .co sites here with an abundance of “free” wordpress blogs.

I am considering to start another .co site to used strictly for content to be viewed by close friends & family, which means I need to keep some of my stuff on this account inaccessible. Not like I have any sites on this account that I would feel too embarrassed if they found them, but I don’t want to make it easy for them to do that. I’m not sure I can do that on this account considering that my username or name is attached to everything I do here, including Gravatar.

I feel like I’m about to answer my own question. Is the best option for me to consider to log out of this account, and sign up for another account strictly for friends & family use, or is there some ways I’m not aware of to hide other sites I have on this account?

    Thanks for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @dtpiixart! Honestly, you pretty much answered it yourself haha.

Since you want your other sites to stay public, a second account is probably your safest bet. The thing is, your display name and Gravatar are tied to your account… so if a family member clicks your name on the new site, it could lead them back to your profile and the rest of your stuff.

    Easy fix:

    1. Log out of your current account
    2. Sign up at wordpress.com with a different email
    3. Build your new .co site there

    Completely separate, no crossover.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi @dtpiixart,

    Apologies for the delayed reply.

Your thinking is on the right track. If you’d like to keep your friends and family site completely separate from your existing sites and account identity, creating a new WordPress.com account is the best approach.

Using a separate account with a different email address, username, and profile ensures there isn’t an obvious connection between the two accounts. You can also set the new site’s privacy to Private under Settings → General → Privacy, then invite your friends and family to access it.

You can find more information here:

If you have any questions while setting up the new account or configuring the site’s privacy, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you. I thought that was how it would go. Had to ask anyway :)
