Need A records to enter into my Register.com DNS
-
We are not using WordPress DNS servers for our domain. What are the A records we need to enter so that the WordPress website works?

Hi,
You will need the Domain Mapping upgrade to do that. Domain Mapping is included in all WordPress.com paid plans:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Once you have purchased a plan, here is a support document that will explain how to set up Domain Mapping with your domain:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
We generally encourage the user of nameservers instead of a records for mapping a domain to a WordPress.com site. Is there a specific reason that you are hoping to use A records instead?
Take a look at those links and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

Thanks for providing some instructions, I will pursue that.
The website and account is on WP, but when the designer moved the DNS, it broke our email and caused the company owner a lot of frustration when we had told them leave the DNS alone and just put in the A record IP address. I understand it doesn’t work that way with WP, but it should.
Basically, we just want the website hosted at WP, but leave our domain and DNS alone. We control that. I don’t like hosts wanting to have everything in their site, prefer to have our own control and point different services to different hosts.

If you do want to just use an A record, please follow the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/#alternatives-to-using-name-servers

I’m a bit confused, I followed the link that took me back to the same page I started on and when I clicked “Contact Support to obtain the A records”, I’m returned to this forum where I’m told to go to the same page I started at.
This is the page I clicked on the link:
Using A RecordsIt’s possible to map your domain to WordPress.com using A records. To do so, add your domain through these steps, then contact Support to obtain the A records that you need. Then, add the A record wherever your domain’s DNS is managed (usually the domain’s registrar).

Hi there,
Can you please let me know your site’s address? We’re WordPress.com, the hosting provider and I believe that you’re using the WordPress software and that your site is hosted elsewhere.

The domain is hedlundbuilders.com.
I can log into the account and when I click on Complete Domain Setup, it has Domain mapping and such, but just still seems to only want us to move our DNS servers.
I’m the IT guy for the client and he does have a WP Business account, but the web designer just moved the DNS servers over to WP and broke email after we told him not do do that. To be clear, we wish to keep our DNS server with Register.com and NOT WP.
I do appreciate all help that is being provided. I’m understand most of this stuff after doing it for over 30 years. The specific WP system, I’m not as knowledgeable, only having a small personal Blog for a few years.

Ok, hedlundbuilders.com is registered here under a business account, but neither jhanks64 nor brhedlund are that account.
There is a third (at least) account involved, and if you do not recall the password for the correct account, we have some options for you at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
