Need help accessing account: It is under old email (no longer access)

  I need help accessing my account. I apparently need to reset my password due to security concerns. The account is associated with an email I no longer use. I do not have 2 factor authentication. I do not have access to the activication URL because that is the old email. I have a transaction ID on paypal that is being rejected by wordpress (see below). What can I do to access my own wordpress account?

  Hi @lilypea22lilypea22,

  Since you can’t get into that old email and don’t have two-step authentication the usual password reset won’t work.

  You’ll need to use the Account Recovery form: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

  • Enter your site URL (alysonrosewood.com).
  • Check the box for “Do you have a transaction ID?”.
  • Paste your PayPal ID (82R963779U8511454) into the field.

  After you submit, the WordPress.com support team will manually review the details to verify the account and help you get back in with a new email address.

  Thanks. The reason I am writing is the form is rejecting the ID from PayPal and therefore I cannot submit the form and I cannot address the issue. The ID is literally from PayPal so I am not sure how it can be incorrect or not accept in your form.

  Looks like the message got cut short before the error came through. Could you paste the exact wording the form gives when it rejects the ID, or share a screenshot of that step?

  It says: “The receipt or transaction ID does not appear to be valid.” But, it literally is the transaction ID from Paypal for the annual renewal.
