Need help adding a subdomain to my domain
-
I originally set up my blog through wordpress.com, but added a custom url for the site. I switched to a self-hosted wordpress.org site a while ago that is hosted through godaddy. I am now needing to add a subdomain to my original url that I purchased through wordpress.com, but when I try to access the domain manager through my old wordpress.com account it redirects me to my new site and I can’t get in to update the record.
The original wordpress.com blog is sojournerwalker.wordpress.com with the custom url sojournerwalker.com –
Can you assist me in getting access to the domain manager so that I can add a subdomain?
-
Sure! You can log into your dashboard at this URL:
https://sojournerwalker.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
From there, you can get to your domain manager under Store > Domains:
https://sojournerwalker.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Just let me know if you need further help.

Thank you so much for the response. I tried this – but when I logged in, it only shows my other blog that I have hosted with wordpress.com – it longer gives me access to my original url.
Can you advise?
-
It looks like sojournerwalker.wordpress.com is owned by a different user account (touchofohm) so you’ll need to log in under that user in order to get access to the dashboard.
Just let me know if you run into any trouble with it.
-
Yes – that is correct – but when I sign in under that account, I can do one of two things. I can access the store from my touch of ohm blog. It does not show the sojournerwalker url as an option under the domains section in the store – only my touch of ohm url. When I access the old sojournerwalker blog from the same login info, when I go to access my account there, it doesn’t show the store as an option on that account, but rather forwards me to the login page for my new wordpress.org blog.

Once you’re signed in under touchofohm, could you please try clicking on this dashboard link directly?
-
Ok – that page says that I am logged in under a different username and can’t access the site with the login credentials – is it possible that there are different login accounts and that my touch of ohm account only has permissions for the sojournerwalker account but not admin privileges?
-
Hmm – touchofohm is the sole administrator on sojournerwalker.wordpress.com, so that shouldn’t be the issue.
Since you’re posting under sojournercwalker now, could you please try logging in as touchofohm in a different browser than the one you’re using now? For example, if you’re posting here in Firefox, could you please log in as touchofohm in Chrome or Safari, and then try accessing https://sojournerwalker.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
-
The same thing happens in both Chrome and Safari – I can login from that link – but it just takes me to my touch of ohm dashboard where all of the same scenarios are in place.
-
OK, let’s try something else. :-)
Could you please log out of all WordPress.com accounts in the browser of your choice.
Next, click on this URL or paste it into your browser’s address bar.
https://sojournerwalker.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Log in on this page with the username touchofohm and the associated password.
Please let me know if you’re able to get in that way.

Hi there –
I am not able to login with the username touchofohm. I don’t have a password for that username. I even tried to have wordpress send me a password reset for that username – but it doesn’t correspond to any e-mail accounts that I possess.

It sounds like you’ve lost access to the user account touchofohm somehow. I will send an email to the address connected to this account so we can go through the account recovery process in private, to try to help you regain access. Please let me know if you don’t receive the message within a few hours.
