Need help choosing plan.

I want to go all the way with blogging, need to have a blog site with the freedom to buy a theme, add plugins, all of that, etc. I already signed up for a free blog, but don’t think it’s right for me. Please tell me what plan I need, how much it will cost, etc. Also, need it to be hosted by WordPress, but include security and updates, etc. Do y’all offer that? Let me know thanks!

If you feel your free WordPress.com site has too many limitations you might need to look at a self-hosted WordPress.org site. That is the only way you’ll be able to install plugins.
WordPress.com is the place to be if you don’t want to mess about with security and updates. An upgraded plan gives you the benefit of a custom domain. amongst other things.

Can I upgrade from my free account? If so, where do I click to upgrade? I’ve been looking for where I can easily upgrade.

Click on “My Site” and “Plan” lower down on the left. Remember that even with an upgraded plan you can’t install your own plugins here at WordPress.com.
