need help connecting and existing account

Hi! Hoping I can get some help here…

I purchased a domain name via Namecheap and then mapped my domain to a WordPress account via a tool called EasyWP that Namecheap owns.

Although I have a wordpress site, I do not have a wordpress account associated with my website.

How can I do that? (I’m unable to add the payment apps I need to accept donations for my nonprofit at the moment).

    Hoping someone can help.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

There’s no such thing as a “WordPress account” :)

You can have a WordPress.com account (you have one, with the username am206007, which you used to post in this forum and which owns the free WordPress.com site, http://thisishappycycling.wordpress.com/), and you can have a WordPress.org account (only needed if you want to post in the support forums for the open source WordPress software made by the community on WordPress.org), but not a WordPress account.

If you have a WordPress site at Namecheap, you’ll also have an admin user account for that site, but that account is unique and specific to that site only, and cannot be used to log in anywhere else.

You do have the option of linking such a stand-alone WordPress site to a WordPress.com account via a plugin called Jetpack. That will allow you to manage that site via your WordPress.com username instead of the site’s admin account, and will give you access to some extra features we’ve made for WordPress here on WordPress.com. But it’s not a requirement to do that to use your stand-alone WordPress site.

Also note that you don’t need any paid upgrade from us to do this – connecting a site here via Jetpack is free – but Jetpack does offer upgrade plans to add additional security and backup features to your site.
