Need help in deleting an accidental honepage
-
Hello. I’m a bit frustrated and need some help. I recently started working at a company that uses WordPress for their website. I was tasked to make some minor changes to their home page. I’d never used WordPress before and I wanted to be careful that I didn’t accidentally delete anything that shouldn’t be deleted. So, when I was editing the home page, I created a new draft of it in WordPress. However, I realized after publishing the draft, that it published it to a new URL, which is not what I wanted.
I don’t want to mention the real company’s name and website because I don’t want to portray them in a negative light.
But for instance, pretending that the company’s homepage is http://www.originalhomepage.com, I accidentally also created http://www.orignalhomepage.com/home-2
And I have no idea how to delete that home-2 webpage, which is a duplicate of the normal home page.
When I’m logged into WordPress, I don’t see the page listed and I don’t know where to find it.
Also, when I’m logged into WordPress, there’s a little chat window titled ‘Ask Your Question’ on the bottom right corner for contacting support. But no matter what name I put in the Name field, the form won’t accept it. It keeps showing a little red ‘x’ and the words, in red, ‘Specify Your Name.’ I’ve tired numerous names, including the name of the person who used to be at my company whose email is affiliated with the company’s WordPress account. I tried my own name, which is associated with my own Gmail account, and that didn’t work. I really don’t understand why the form wasn’t accepting any name.
My company pays for WordPress, so I’m also wondering if there is a tier of support I can access outside of these forums.
In any case, I really need to delete that home-2 webpage and I have no idea how to do it.
I am not using my real name in these forums, but you can refer to me as Sky Jones.
Thanks for any help.

Hi there,
On what site are you working? The account you’re using to post here is only 12 hours old and does not own any sites on WordPress.com.
If you’re using the open source WordPress software at another host, please ask for help from the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums instead.
Also, when I’m logged into WordPress, there’s a little chat window titled ‘Ask Your Question’ on the bottom right corner for contacting support.
We don’t display anything like that on WordPress.com, so it sounds like you’re logged into a WordPress site hosted somewhere else.

Kokkieh, thanks for responding.
I’d rather not post the actual URL of my company’s site in a public forum, because I don’t want the forum posts to come up in a Google search for the company. My bosses might not like that.
The site definitely uses WordPress, but maybe it’s hosted by another company.
The URL for logging into the WordPress site and editing it is the following (though originalhomepage.com is not that actual domain name):
Does that help at all?
I wish I could include a screenshot of the “Ask Your Question” area, but apparently these forums don’t allow for uploading attachments.

You can upload the screen shot through a third party like droplr or https://snipboard.io/. After I see the site URL I’ll remove the link for you.

Liz, thanks for your help.
I used Snipboard and created two screenshots. I have a 4K monitor, so the screenshots are pretty big. Let me know if they are too big.
Here’s a screenshot of the accidental homepage that I need to remove:

Here’s a screenshot showing the “Ask Your Question” form on the bottom right of the WordPress page:

Hi there,
You’re in the wrong forum. Your site is using the open-source WordPress software and therefore you need to seek help at these forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the WordPress software you can read this document:
