Need help with changing background color Header for Vigilance.
-
Hi, I am new to WordPress and I picked the Vigilance theme for my blog, http://chase4hire.wordpress.com/
I have a custom header that’s in png format. When using a viewer, the image is black letters and a white background. When I uploaded the png image, the image is now a black background, the white letters are no longer white…
Can someone assist the new guy? Thanks.

In terms of image quality and best results you need to use either a desktop app (image editor) or a free online image editor to optimize and presize your header image to the exact before uploading it.
My guess and it’s only a guess is that the transparency rendered the whit lettering as black. Does that sound like what happened to you?

As timethief said, the image needs to be in the exact dimensions specified by the theme (in your case, 920 x 180 pixels). When it’s not, the uploader crops the image. The cropped version produced is always a jpg, hence no transparency.

It all makes sense. Often the crop tool would come up after uploading the image. I was able to use an online editor and correct the pixel size. It looks and works great.
Thanks for the help. -
