Need to delete blogs, but nobody still has the relevant passwords or usernames.

My organization needs to delete outdated blogs, but nobody has the access information or the passwords.
These blogs were set up years ago and I have been unable to get the password or access information from any past members to take them down. Nobody who previously had access still has the passwords or usernames they need to delete or even update either site. Nobody even seems to remember who once had this information.
Is there anything I can do to have these web pages taken down? Nobody in the organization still wants them. Could, maybe, a message be sent out to the email addresses associated with the blogs with ways to retrieve the passwords?
The blogs are http://vandydems.wordpress.com/ and http://vandydemocrats.wordpress.com/
Blog url: http://vandydemocrats.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you tried leaving a comment? The http://vandydems.wordpress.com/about/ has comment moderation turned on so an email was sent to the Admin.
Try leaving a message there
You need to prove ownership to have a blog deleted etc. The staff will give a hint on the email but will not give out the full email for security and privacy reasons.
I will flag this for the staff to help

Thanks. I left a comment on that blog. I can’t comment on the other one though.
If it helps, I could prove that I’m the current President of the organization that both of these blogs are originally for.

Blogs are owned by the users who register them, not the companies they represent.
http://vandydems.wordpress.com/ is registered to a gur[…] (at) vanderbilt.edu email address.
http://vandydemocrats.wordpress.com/ is registered to a van[…] (at) yahoo.com email address.
If you have access to either email address, you can reset the passwords via http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

I’ll ask around with that information, though I’m not optimistic.
Is there seriously no way to shut down an outdated blog if nobody knows the password? Is it just there forever?

I can make the blog private if you can confirm exactly what the registered email addresses are and the years the blogs were registered, but I can’t completely shut them down or transfer ownership.

I have managed to track down the person who set up the one of the blogs, but he claims to have no idea what the WordPress account or email account was that he used to set up the site. Is there someone who I can give his contact information to who can talk to him?
Also, I have a handful of email addresses that belong to him and another person who may have had a role in setting up the sites. Can I send these addresses to someone to check see if any of them are adequate for making either of the blogs private?
