Need to Get My Domain Name Away From WordPress.com

    Hello, I have had nothing but issues with getting my domain name away from wordpress.com. I originally tried to self host using hostgator and get my wordpress.com site over to wordpress.org. But, I had nothing but issues and I decided to delete my blog all together. I am trying to use another site but when I go to my domain onedadsjourney.com I get an error:domain mapping message. Please help me correct this and get my domain name back.

    Hi there,

    You get that error message because your domain’s name servers are still pointing to us, so the domain still thinks it’s connected to a site on WordPress.com. You need to change the name servers to point to your new hosting provider instead. This change can only be done with GoDaddy, where your domain is registered.

    You can find GoDaddy’s instructions for changing the name servers on a domain here:

    For Hostgator’s name servers you’ll need to contact Hostgator directly.

    Note that name servers can take up to 72 hours to update after you change them, and you might also need to clear your browser cache before you’ll see any change.
